Digital picture movie

Hi to everyone

Anyways I am currently editing 1000+ photos from a family trip. I want to put them together to make a dvd slide show with music and add some commentary. As of now i am using the following

-Nikon software (the one that came with the camera)
-microsoft movie maker

I was wondering if anyone has other suggestions when it comes to different programs. Oh my specs for the computer are not the best.

Processor: 1.7GHz
Ram: 2GB

I used Nero a few times to create a DVD slide show. It worked fairly well but my creativeness what the bottleneck! :)

thanks for your suggestions i guess i will try the pinnacle software or nero
