I played around with this kind of thing recently too, I will have to see if I can dig up some photos.

I think these are cool but they lack a real subject. Also there is a very bleak background. I would suggest trying this in a heavily used intersection, maybe one with an interesting building across the way.

  4. Good idea. I should have been a block or so down by the courthouse. And a lights parade is just a parade with Christmas lights and theme. Local business, politicians and churches provide the floats and throw candy for the kids. Great fun but kinda cold this year.

  5. If you set your shutter a little faster it might have been nice to see what the lights are attachd too also.
Or maybe not, I don't know but I see an ambulance there and I wonder how they decorated it with lights.
I can see the inconsistency with the streak of lights in the ambulance shot, that must be from the strobes.

  6. or a long exposure with a rear curtain sync, add a cool trail behind the subject, and have the subject illuminated. This is fun stuff, one of the things that are always interesting to play around and experiment with.

  7. I never have good luck with 2nd curtain sync, for some reason my preflash always becomes part of the exposure so I get double exposure.
I even set the 2nd curtain sync custom function on the flash and in the camera so I don't know what's the deal...
Actually i think i just figured out my own problem, I probably shouldn't be using TTL, am I right?
