Thread: 40D Rumors

  1. You wont be happy come March when the 40d comes out and the cost of a 30d is only $800 new!!

Hopefully it stays just a rumor though, but knowing Canon... I'd return it and wait for spring if it's not too late..

Great shot by the way! You will love the 30d.

    Oooh, don't say that... (40D).

I was planning on having a Grin-ectomy when getting my 30D

Of course I would let that grin stay on my face for the first 4 months, until the 40D came out, then go and get that Grin-ectomy LOL.

  3. Not trying to cause any hysteria by talking about the 40D. Just be cautious and think about your plans for the future before you buy.

If you want to buy the 30d to learn on and you don't mind it decreasing in value in very little time then go for it! Either way i'm sure the few hundred dollars you might lose will be worth the lessons learned from using the camera!

Good Luck with both of you and your new 30d's!

  4. Do you know anything about the 40d Adapt? Like what's different about it at all?

Just curious for these folks that have theirs now... will they be missing out on much???
Cameras don't make pictures... people do.

  5. This is what I found. And again this is speculation rumors and predictions only so far.

"I also heard that Canon are going to split the 5D into two models to test our the demand for prosumer full frame without compromising demand for the 1.6 crop. There was going to be a smaller (closer to 30D size) and cheaper version of the 5D - same sensor, Digic III, wider AF points (given full frame) and probably Anti-Dust (some have suggested this as a 7D). And a upgraded 5D wiith a similar size to the current 5D but 16.2mp (or so) sensor ('very similar' to the 1Ds Mark II) and the samle Digic III, wider AF points, 5 FPS etc.
My source - who visited Canon Japan a couple of months ago (and gave me a very accurate preview of the 400D) said they basically had replacements for their full EOS range in the works and that 'everything would be replaced by February / March 2007'. He said Canon were very excited about the combinaiton of new sensors and Digic III giving better dynamic range and 'much better' high ISO performance."

  6. I'm not down about it, I actually got my 30D for 800 funny as that is. It was refurbished. Plus its my first DSLR so its something to get started on and really learn how to work my way around these kinds of cameras. It was pretty intimidating at first I'll have to admit.

  7. I'm still waiting for the 5D replacement to be released, so 5D prices drop, and I can actually afford one!

Really? This is your first dSLR?

You would love it. I'm already in love with it. Being able to change almost every setting on one hand is great! And very intuitive.

I would love to see more shots that you have done with this camera.

  9. Well no matter what you buy there will be something better in 6 months. Just buy something you are happy with it and enjoy it. In my single years when I could afford to do it I chased the latest and greatest. It did not get my anywhere but broke!

I couldn't agree more. I was tempted for 30 seconds to wait for the 40D... But in this game there will always be something better around the corner technically, but it's up to the photographer to get the better shots, right

I'll probably keep my 30D for a few years, many people still use their 20D day in, day out, and I hope I can do that with my 30D.
