Sure you get a different feel looking through the viewfinder rather than the lcd but the ability to zoom in and pick the exact focal point is excellent. The "live-view" feature isn't just through the camera lcd either as it can pass through to a computer so you can setup a shot using your glorious 15" screen to assist with overall composition and then zoom in for focus.

  2. but you can do all of that through the view finder

  3. You can't view a 10X magnified image to confirm manual focus through the viewfinder. If you can, I certainly want to know how!

  4. okay. however you can focus through the view finder. it's just a feature i don't care for really... i don't like looking through the LCD screen to begin with and the whole idea of looking through the LCD instead of the view finder with an SLR... i dunno, maybe it will grow on me but i shot with an old 35mm with only 3 point AF and it's very rare i have problems with focusing... so like i said, it does nothing for me... even when i shoot with a DSLR i never look at the screen, maybe once or twice.

You are getting the wrong idea about live view. It's not a replacement for the viewfinder nor is it meant to be used all the time.
It's just an added feature for shooting in awkward sircumstances where trying to get a shot while looking through the viewfinder might be difficult, impossible, or dangerous.

  6. no no i knew it wasn't replacing it... the idea of it is just funny to me. I just don't see any type of innovation with this new feature... and since the LCD sits flat on the back of the camera, i don't see how much it can help much... at least with the Olympus camera with Live View, the LCD screen can move off the camera giving you better view points for your difficult shooting situations. I'm sorry guys but there isn't much that can make me change my mind and i'm not trying to fight about it, it's just my opinion.

As for the camera itself, i think it's awesome... they haven't had anything that shot that many frames per/sec since the Canon EOS 1V HS, which is pretty cool... I just wish the would finally get ride of that damn APS chip and go 100% Full-Frame!!!
